My plan is to use the masking of light through the use of mirrors and black, non reflective tape. I will set up a series of small mirrors (6"x6") on two "stands" facing each other. The mirrors will be aligned vertically along the stands and positioned so that they bounce the light off of the opposing side from bottom to top. Each mirror will have "fragments" of a whole image masked off with black tape. By the time the light is reflected off of each mirror and onto the screen, an entire image will be visible.
For an alternative, I considered using colored sharpies instead of black tape to emphasize the fragmentation of the image. The image in itself will be one utilizing negative and ground space exclusively, making it less detailed, but still easily recognizable, similar to the image below. Even though the details are nearly gone, the shapes tell us who the person is. (Charlie Chaplin).
